How to Locate the Lower Level of the Altar of King's Quest

"King's Quest" is a series of computer role-playing games that puts the player in the role of a knight trying to save a mythical kingdom from dangerous foes. The latest iteration of the game, "King's Quest VIII: Mask of Eternity," updated the graphics of the game to feature a 3D environment. In one level of this game, you will come across a large altar with a door nearby to lead you to the lower level. You must open this door to continue your quest.

Instructions

- 1
  Play through the game until you get to the Dimension of Death stage. This stage begins after you go through the portal in the mausoleum. Once you enter the main room you will see a large altar with an idol on top. Kill the four skeletons that appear and you will notice that the door leading to the lower level is locked.

  Move east of the altar and you will see a slot that you can go through. On the other side you will see the Lever of Life spinning above the altar. Grab this item and continue north until you reach a dead end, then turn right.

  Keep moving until you see some crates on the ground. In the center of the crates is a dead warrior. Click on him and take the piece of shield he is holding. Head east and travel down the tunnel until you see a locked door. Turn right and keep moving until you see the idol again.

  Move past the idol and climb up the pedestal to reach the area above it. Put the Lever of Life into the slot at the top of the pedestal and then bump into it to pull the lever. You will take it back. Move to the next pedestal behind the idol and climb to the top and use the lever again. Repeat this with the remaining pedestals and the door next to the altar will open. Enter it to reach the lower level.
