How to Convert Body Mesh

The Sims games have the option to customize body meshes and create new looks for characters. With a modified mesh, you can make new hairstyles, different shaped bodies, new clothing and other additional features in the game. Converting the base body mesh is a complicated process and most people unfamiliar with 3D modeling are not able to convert the meshes properly. This process requires several different specific software programs to create the modifications.

Things You'll Need

  • 3D modeling software

Instructions

    • 1

Find the SKN file that you want to convert into a new body mesh. Move this file to a separate folder or the desktop.

    • 2

Open the Skn2Obj software and covert the SKN file to a SPJ file. This breaks the file into a SPJ file, a MTL file and an OBJ file.

    • 3

Open the OBJ file in your 3D modeling program. Modify the mesh by changing colors, patterns and moving the vertices to change the shape of the mesh. Do not add or delete any vertices or else you will ruin the body mesh. Save the modified OBJ file with the same file name as the original.

    • 4

Open the SPJ file attached to that mesh and save it as a SKN file using Skn2Obj.

    • 5

Open the new body mesh SKN file in Sim Show. If the mesh shows up and looks correct in Sim Show, click the ̶0;Import̶1; button to import the new skin into the Sims game.
