How to Troubleshoot The Sims 2

Problems can arise with the Sims 2 that make it nearly impossible to play the game or even open the program. Common problems include the game closing unexpectedly during gameplay or loading very slowly. Your Sim may even become stuck in such a way you can't move him around his home. Basic troubleshooting such as updating your computer's drivers and adjusting the gameplay settings are good starting points for resolving problems before contacting customer support.

      Update your computer's video drivers if you are unable to play ̶0;The Sims 2̶1; after installation. Visit the manufacturer's website for your video card. Search for the video card and download updated drivers. Follow the onscreen prompts to install the update.

      Ensure your computer meets the minimum requirements to play the game if it closes unexpectedly or does not load. Minimum requirements for the game include an 800 MHz processor and at least 3.5 GB of free hard drive space.

      Pause the game and move objects around in your bathroom if your Sim gets stuck in the bathtub. Any object near the tub can prevent the Sim from exiting the tub or shower. After moving the object, restart the game and assign a new task for your Sim to do so he gets out of the bathtub.
