How to Make a TNT Cannon in Minecraft

With the introduction of redstone in "Minecraft," you can create a number of different fun tools in the game. One of them is the TNT cannon, which will launch a block of TNT into the distance, blowing up nearly anything in its blast radius -- mobs and players included. The cannon is not only entertaining, but also reusable. All you have to do is restock it with TNT and let the destruction continue.

Instructions

    • 1

Make an open-topped trench one block high, one block wide and five blocks long from cobblestone. Choose one end of the trench to be the front of the cannon and one end to be the back.

    • 2

Empty a water bucket into one end of the trench. The water is necessary to absorb the force of the blast. Without the water, the cannon will be destroyed after one use.

    • 3

Place two cobblestone blocks at the back of the trench. Position one block, which will serve as the trigger block, on the center of the back rim of the trench and the other block so that it hangs over the first block of water.

    • 4

Place a button at the back of the cannon. The button should be be on the trigger block, facing away from the front of the cannon.

    • 5

Place six redstone dusts along the left side of the trench, starting at the block to the left of the trigger block.

    • 6

Place a redstone torch on the right side of the trigger block.

    • 7

Place one redstone dust along the right side of the trench. Place three redstone repeaters along the right side of the trench. Set all three repeaters to their longest delay time.

    • 8

Place a block of cobblestone ahead of the third repeater. Place a redstone torch on the front of this block.

    • 9

Place a block of TNT on the middle block at the end of the trench. Place four blocks of TNT in the trench, making sure that you don't accidentally place a block over the water source.

    • 10

Click the button. The line of redstone dust along the left side of the cannon will light the four lower blocks of TNT, while the delayed redstone circuits on the right side of the cannon will light the TNT at the very end of the cannon a second or so later. The four blocks of TNT in the trench will launch the fifth block of TNT, which will then explode when it lands.
