How to Restore Aircraft Files in FSX

Microsoft Flight Simulator X (FSX) is a civilian aircraft simulator that allows you to "fly" in a beautifully rendered, photo-realistic world. Customize the game by applying "mods," which are files that extend the game world by adding airplanes, airfields and improved textures. Remove additional aircraft you've added by restoring the default aircraft. Do this by running the FSX built-in "Repair" function.

Things You'll Need

  • Windows Computer with Flight Simulator X (FSX) Installed
  • DVD-ROM Drive

Instructions

    • 1

Insert the FSX Install Disc into the DVD-ROM drive. By default, Windows will engage its autoplay feature and load up the main install program for FSX. If autoplay is disabled on your system -- or the autoplay feature does not appear to be working -- load the main install program by clicking on "My Computer" and then clicking on your DVD-ROM drive.

    • 2

Select "Repair" from the list of available actions in the main install program. Press the "Next" button.

    • 3

Follow the on-screen instructions to repair your installation of FSX. This restores your default aircraft files.
