How to Install an Add-on File to Fallout: New Vegas

The PC version of "Fallout 3: New Vegas" supports the inclusion of add-on files called modifications ("mods" for short) that can alter the gameplay of the game. These mods add things like new buildings, missions, characters and weapons. Installing an add-on file requires that you place the file in the correct folder on your hard disk.

Instructions

    • 1

Right-click on the Windows Start button, and click "Open Windows Explorer."

    • 2

Navigate to the C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\fallout new vegas\Data folder.

    • 3

Copy the game modification you downloaded into this folder by clicking on the modification file (wherever it is on your computer when you downloaded and saved it), pressing "CTRL" and "C" and then clicking in the folder you opened and pressing "CTRL" and "V."

    • 4

Launch New Vegas; then click "Data Files" on the game launcher.

    • 5

Click the check box next to the name of the add-on you copied; then click "OK" and play the game.
