How to Find Diamonds With a Cartographer in Minecraft

"Minecraft" is a game created by the Mojang company. In this game, you mine for resources and use the items to build nearly anything imaginable. One resource that is scarce and has many uses is diamonds. They typically are located near the bedrock of the earth and appear only in three- or four-block sections. You can locate all diamonds on a "Minecraft" world using a tool called Minecraft Cartographer. This software is available as a free download, and it reveals the location of diamonds and other resources so you can quickly mine them.

Instructions

    • 1

Download the Minecraft Cartographer software, and install the program. Click on the application button to open the software.

    • 2

Select the world where you want to search for diamonds in the program. This is done by entering the server number into the program, or selecting the name of the world from a list of available ones on your copy of "Minecraft." Click the "Render" button.

    • 3

Change the second 0 to 56 in the text box. Save this info with another file name, such as "diamond."

    • 4

Open your "Minecraft" world file in paint. Open the "diamond" file in paint as well. Copy the diamond file by pressing "CTRL and A" then "CTRL and C."

    • 5

Go to the original "Minecraft" world file. Click on the "Image" tab. Then click on the "Transparent select" option. Paste the information you copied from the diamond file.

    • 6

Open the "Minecraft" world. The screen should now show many small dots inside the game. These are the locations of the diamonds. When you stand over a dot, mine straight down to reach the diamonds and mine them for future use. You must have an iron pick to mine diamonds.
