How to Mod the Nazi Zombie Common File

"Call of Duty: World at War" is a first-person shooter for the PC. It has a secret mode, unlocked once you have completed the game's single-player campaign, which tasks you with surviving a Nazi zombie onslaught. The game draws its settings from a file called "common.ff" that specifies what types of weapons and abilities the player will have in the Nazi zombie survival mode. If you're experienced in the programming language C++, you can edit some of the game's code to give yourself additional weapons and activate cheat codes.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to your "Call of Duty World at War" directory. The directory can be in a variety of places, depending on where you installed the game's files. But this directory is located in the "Activision" folder of your "Program Files" folder, by default.

    • 2

Right-click the file "common.ff." A list of options will expand, as if you were to right-click a file on the desktop.

    • 3

Hover over "Open with..." and click "Notepad." The file's contents will open in a Notepad document.

    • 4

Add lines of code or change the existing ones to customize the game's files. Typically, changing "1" to a "0" will activate the cheat code the number is beside.

    • 5

Save and close the file to keep any changes you made. These changes will load the next time you start the game.
