How to Make Stock Armor Mods Just for Your Character in Oblivion

Begin a new game of "Oblivion."

Create your character by following the in-game prompts. Select the character's name, gender, fighting style, abilities and starting attributes. You can select various pieces of stock armor to equip on your character. Stock armor is also available to purchase with game currency from stores throughout the game. Save your character and begin the game to start playing.

Gain entrance to the Arcane University to be able to use enchanting skills on your armor. Complete the in-game tasks that are assigned by the members of the Mages Guild to gain access to the universty. For "Oblivion" players using their PC, you can download the "Wizard's Tower" upgrade for immediate access to the Arcane University.

Approach an Altar of Enchanting located within the Arcane University. Multiple altars are available throughout the university; you do not have to use a particular one.

Select a soul gem from your inventory. The type of soul gem you select governs the available enchantment modifications. For example, dark soul gems enchant your armor with protection from specific dark attacks that cause additional damage when used against your character.

Open the menu to select the piece of armor that you want to enchant. Only those that are available for improvement will show up in your listing.

Select the enchantment modification that you want to instill in the piece of armor. The available enchantments will appear listed and will change depending on which piece of armor that you choose to improve.

Pay the required fee using in-game currency for enchanting the armor and it will immediately have the selected effect. As you select stronger enchantments the price to complete the process will increase.
