How Do You Make a Boat Go in Rollercoaster Tycoon 3

"Rollercoaster Tycoon 3" is a 2004 amusement park simulator that allows players to create their own park. The game features full 3D graphics that allow you to test out your own rides. Besides the selection of rollercoasters there are also water attractions to choose from. These require the terrain to be lowered and filled with water before the tracks can be placed. The boats will also not move before you have properly connected the tracks and opened the ride.

Instructions

    • 1

Start the game and play a new "Career" or "Sandbox" mode. Opt for "Sandbox" as you have unlimited money in this mode, which allows you to practice building your boat rides right from the start.

    • 2

Click the "Terrain Tools" icon on the left side of the screen. It is the icon that looks like a shovel. Click "Terrain Shaping" and then "Lower Terrain."

    • 3

Left click the area on the map where you want to create your boat ride. The longer you hold down the left mouse button, the deeper the hole will be. Click "Fill With Water" and click on the hole you created to fill it up.

    • 4

Click the "Rides" icon and then select "Water Rides." A list of available water rides will display. Click the boat ride you want to create (bumper boats, rowing boats or swan boats.)

    • 5

Left click the spot on the water where you want to place the ride station. Click the track icons at the bottom of the screen to determine the length and curves of the ride. Once you connect the last part of the track to the first (the station) the track will be complete.

    • 6

Click one of the icons at the bottom of the screen to determine the type of theme your ride will have. Click the "Paths" icon to connect your "Entrance" and "Exit" parts to the pathways where the guests are, otherwise nobody will be able to get on or off the ride and you won't be able to open it.

    • 7

Click the "Vehicles" icon on the bottom right of the screen and click the "Up" arrow to increase the amount of boats on the ride. The amount of boats you can have is dependent on how long your "station" (the first part of the track) is.

    • 8

Click the "Operating Mode" icon (it looks like a orange and green gear) on the bottom right of the screen to set the minimum and maximum loading times. Click the green flag at the bottom right of the screen and then the green light (go) to open the ride.

    • 9

Wait for the boats to fill up or wait the amount of time you have specified and you will see them starting to move automatically.
