How to Make Text Inside Your CSS Maps

CSS, "Counter-Strike Source," is a first person shooter created on the Valve engine. Players can create maps and other custom content for the game using the development package Source SDK, which comes with the Hammer map editing program. You can include text inside your map to help describe the gameplay or other information about the map using a text file located in your CSS map directory.

Instructions

    • 1

Open a text editing program and create a new text file with the same name as your map.

    • 2

Open your "Counter-Strike Source" directory and place the new text file in the "Maps" folder.

    • 3

Open the text file and type in the information about your map. Include instructions, player information or acknowledgments.

    • 4

Save and close the file. Load "Counter-Strike Source" and start a new game using your map to play on. When the game loads, your text will appear at the start of the match.
