How to Fix a Black & White 2 Cyclic Redundancy Check Error

"Black &White 2" for the PC uses a game disk to install the game on the PC's hard disk drive. When trying to install the game to the hard disk and you see a cyclic redundancy check error, the game cannot be installed until the disk has been cleaned. PC disk drives have a hard time reading dirty discs, which is what causes a cyclic redundancy error.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the "Black &White 2" disk from the disk drive.

    • 2

Flip the disk upside down. The bottom side of the disk is where the disk drive tries to read the disk's information.

    • 3

Look for any smudges or dirt clumps on the bottom of the disk.

    • 4

Pour a small amount of rubbing alcohol onto a cotton ball.

    • 5

Wipe away the smudges and dirt clumps with the wet portion of the cotton ball. Always wipe away from the center of the disk to clean it properly.

    • 6

Wait a few minutes for the disk to air-dry.

    • 7

Insert the disk back into the disk drive.
