How to Troubleshoot a Conduit Magic Oblivion

"Conduit Magic" is a special plug-in for the 2006 PC role playing game "The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion." This plug-in allows you to enchant any weapon in the game that does not already have an enchantment on it. Conduit Magic is meant primarily for characters that use magic in the game, as the enchantment effects drain the character's pool of available magic. "Conduit Magic" is compatible with other mods, but if you do run into trouble when trying to use it, there are ways to fix it.

Instructions

    • 1

Navigate to "Obse" (see Resources) and download the latest version of the "Oblivion Script Extender."

    • 2

Extract the contents of the archived file you have downloaded to the directory where your copy of "Oblivion" is installed.

    • 3

Run the file "obse_loader.exe" to start the game. This prevents the "Spell not suitable" error message you receive when using the "Conduit Magic" without the script extender installed.

    • 4

Use the "Conduit Magic" only on items that are not part of a quest or scripted in any way. Attempting to use it on such items will result in failure.

    • 5

Install "Conduit Magic" and the "Oblivion Script Extender" only on the "Steam" and retail DVD versions of the game. The files used by the "Direct2Drive" and "Impulse" versions of the game are encrypted and are thus not compatible with the plug-in.

    • 6

Place the "Conduit Magic" files in the "DATA" folder of your "Oblivion" installation directory to ensure that the game is able to use it.
