How to Maximize DPS as a Mage in World of Warcraft

"World of Warcraft" is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game for the PC that allows you to choose from a variety of character classes as you attempt to fulfill one of three types: damage dealer, damage taker, or Tank, and damage repairer, or Healer. A majority of the game's players attempt to maximize their damage per second, or DPS, and become the greatest damage dealer they can be. The Mage is a popular spell-casting class that, when utilized properly, can perform some of the highest DPS in the game.

  Specialize your Talent Tree points into the "Fire" tree. A Fire Mage specializes in dealing damage quickly and efficiently by maximizing the output of his damage, at the cost of some survivability.

  Acquire gear that increases "Intellect," "Wisdom" and "Critical Hit Rating." These three stats increase the damage your magic spells do and how often you can cast them, which is essential to maximizing your damage per second.

  Use skills that deal high burst damage. Skills that use burst damage perform maximum damage immediately after casting, rather than burning an enemy and damaging him over a longer period of time.
