Open the game's "Options" menu and click on the graphics button. Lower your graphical settings. For instance, if you have the graphics set to "High," change them to "Medium" or "Low." Open Windows Control Panel. Double-click "Add/Remove Programs." Select "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" and uninstall the game. Insert your game installation CD and follow the on-screen instructions provided by the installation wizard to reinstall the game. A corrupted installation of "San Andreas" can cause freezing. Download a program such as Alcohol 120 that allows you to create and boot ISO images. An ISO image is an archived version of a computer disk. ISO images allow you to boot CDs without actually putting them in your computer. Create an ISO image of "Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas" using this software. Use the same program to boot the ISO image. Problems with your CD or DVD drive can cause startup freezing in "San Andreas." Running the game from an ISO image rather than a disk allows you to sidestep this issue.
