How to Get Longer Runways in Airport Tycoon 3

"Airport Tycoon 3" is a business simulation game in which players take control of the development of a major airport. The player determines every aspect of the airport with the goal of building a profitable and satisfying location. The airport runways are important because they determine which type of planes are able to use the created airport along with affecting overall safety. Longer runways will improve your airport and increase your revenue.

  Begin a new game of "Airport Tycoon 3."

  Create the overall layout of the airport. Design the facilities and terminals and purchase any airplanes you can afford. You will only be able to purchase the smallest planes when you begin the game.

  Acquire contracts with outside businesses and other companies to raise revenue. Use the funds to purchase additional terminals which will increase the number of passengers your airport can service.

  Begin to purchase the larger runways available in "Airport Tycoon 3." Press the "B" button on your keyboard to open the construction menu. Select the "runways" icon to open the menu displaying the different types of runways.

  Select the type of runway you want to purchase. The longer the runway you intend to purchase, the higher the cost. For example, the 3500 meter runway has a $6,000,000 price tag.

  Press the right click button to select the runway then drag it next to the terminal you wish to connect it with. Release the right click button to lay the runway into place. Be sure you have enough room for the type of runway you are using. You will not be able to place the runway if the area is too cluttered.

  Purchase the airplanes that can use the longer runways once the runway is in place. Longer runways allow for larger planes that carry more customers to land and take off from your airport.
