Instructions
Update the driver on your video card. If your driver is not up to date, your graphics card may not run as well. This could decrease the performance of "Mass Effect."
Close all of your programs, including Web browsers, instant messaging software, music programs and desktop widgets. Open programs eat up system resources. If you close the programs first, these resources will be allocated to "Mass Effect."
Run the game, open the "Options" sub-menu and then open the "Graphics" tab, where you can adjust graphics settings to improve performance.
Set the "Particle Effects" and "Texture Detail" to "Low." Lowering these two settings will decrease the graphical quality of the game, but will increase game performance and speed.
Disable Antialiasing, Dynamic Shadows, Blur and Vertical Sync. Disabling these four settings will improve frames per second (FPS) and general performance drastically.
Upgrade your computer's graphics card, processor and RAM. Although potentially expensive, this is the only foolproof way to increase performance without sacrificing visual quality.
