How to Get Mansions on The Sims

Improve your Sim's job performance to receive promotions and earn higher wages. Check the career menu for your Sim to find out what your Sim needs to do to receive a promotion. Some promotions require your Sim to improve certain skills, befriend other Sims or come to work in a good mood. The higher your Sim's career level, the more money you can earn to buy a mansion.

Save money to buy a mansion by living frivolously. Strip down your Sim's house to basic furniture and appliances. Sell excess items your Sim does not need. Avoid purchasing new items until you can afford your Sim's mansion.

Take up hobbies that allow your Sim to make extra cash in his spare time. Hobbies like panting and gardening produce products that your Sim can sell for extra money.

Enter cheat codes to instantly earn extra money for your Sim without having to work for it. Hold down the "Ctrl" "Shift" and "C" keys to bring up the cheat command console. Type "motherlode" to receive 50,000 Simoleons in "The Sims 2" and "The Sims 3." For the original game "The Sims," type the code "rosebud" to receive 1,000 Simoleons. Repeat these codes as many times as you like until you have enough money to afford a mansion.

Click on a phone or computer to move your Sim to a new house once he has enough money to afford a mansion. You will be taken to the neighborhood screen where you can select which house. Select which Sims in your current household you would like to take with you.
