Strategies & Tactics for Dawn of War Dark Crusade

"Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War" is a real-time strategy PC game released in 2004. Two years later the expansion pack "Dark Crusade" was brought out to add to the original game. In this game you control a selection of armies and lead them into battle in a futuristic, gothic fantasy world. There are tactics and strategies available to help you do this.
  1. The Rush

    • Rushing is a common tactic in real-time strategy games and works very well in "Dawn of War." The basic idea is to build a small and basic army as quickly as you can and attack the enemy base before it is ready to properly defend itself. Send your units in within the first five minutes of the game and attack the enemy headquarters. Don't attempt the rush if an enemy has two bases or a large honor guard.

    Swamp the Enemy

    • This is an effective tactic when playing as the Chaos Space Marines. Send Possessed Berzerkers and Khorne Berzerkers directly into the enemy base and you will be met by all of their defenses. The Berzerkers are actually just a decoy; move your Raptors in from the side or back of the base. Use Melta Bombs on the buildings to deal some serious damage, which is a fair trade for some Berzerker casualties.

    Outnumber the Opposition

    • Orks are well suited to this strategy. Use "Waaagh!" banners" to increase the amount of Orks you can use at the same time. Set up a lot of unit building structures as well. Assemble a huge Ork army and heady for the enemy's base. Try to avoid contact with opposing soldiers as much as possible; you only need the headquarters, after all. If you end up in a fight, then so be it, and don't worry about the outcome, either. Keep making new Orks as your old ones die in battle. This means that when your army is defeated you will have another ready to finish off what remains of the enemy.

    Bring the Big Guns

    • When playing as the Imperial Guard, gather your army and head toward the enemy base. Don't go in just yet, though; place two Basilisks on a ridge near the base. Send your army into the base but keep them away from the areas that you want to attack with your Basilisk. The Basilisk's special shells have high range and damage, plus you can choose the exact target you want to hit. With the enemy's army focused on your soldiers, the main threat will go largely unnoticed.
