How to Hotkey Stuff in Diablo

The original "Diablo" game for PC and Mac lets you hotkey up to four different spells on the F5 through F8 keys for use during game play. The "Diablo" manual refers to the hotkeys as your "Speedbook" instead of your "Spellbook." With the exception of class-related skills, the hotkeys are used only for magic spells. All three characters have access to all spells in the game as long as they have a high enough magic statistic, so hotkeys work identically for all classes.

     Click the "Speedbook" or "Active Skill" icon underneath the "Skills" icon on the Interface Bar, or press the "S" key on the keyboard to open the "Speedbook" interface.

     Select the skill you want to add to your hotkeys from the skill symbols that appear on the screen.

     Place the cursor over the symbol for the skill you want to hotkey.

     Press the "F" key you want to assign the skill to.

     Close the "Speedbook" by clicking the "Speedbook" icon or pressing the "S" key.
