"Starcraft 2" has taken the competitive gaming scene by storm, being played at tournaments and Pro Circuits around the globe. The in-game ranked ladder is the primary way for nonprofessional players to play competitively. Players are rated according to their relative skill and placed in one of seven leagues. Games played for ladder points are also called "League Games." This can cause a little confusion, as some achievements in the game refer to League Games as a requirement, while most players know them by another name.
