Dazed
The "Dazed" debuff is a speed debuff which decreases a player's movement by 50% when affected. Creatures of any level can daze a player and have quite a high chance to do so. The debuff only occurs when the player is facing away from the mob. The purpose of this speed debuff mechanic is to prevent players from running through groups of mobs. When afflicted by this annoying debuff, mounted players will often be dismounted, forcing them to fight the enemies rather than fleeing.
Player versus Player - Rogues
In player-versus-player (PvP) combat, daze effects are frequently used to disable an enemy player and prevent him from escaping. Rogues are particularly effective masters of dazing and stunning characters. In fact, a good rogue will often make it impossible for the enemy player to even have a chance at defending himself. Rogues use poisons to slow their enemies and combat rogues use "Blade Twisting" to inflict a chance of damaging an opponent's speed.
Player versus Player - Mages
Mages which are properly geared and configured for PvP combat usually use the frost talent tree. This provides various speed debuff effects and stuns, making them formidable opponents. A good mage should be able to prevent a melee enemy from even having a chance to return the attack. A frost mage's most powerful daze effect is the one provided by its "Frost Bolt" spell, slowing the target for several seconds. Fire mages have "Blast Wave," dazing all enemies around.
Player versus Player - Hunters
With a cool down of only five seconds, the hunter's "Concussive Shot" ability is one of the most powerful and useful in PvP combat. As with the environmental daze effect mentioned previously, the hunter's "Concussive Shot" ability slows down the target's movement by 50 per cent and lasts for four seconds. This allows the hunter to attack melee enemies at range, without them having much of a chance to fight back.
