Duke Nukem Games for the G1 Phone

The G1 was the first Android phone and one of a new breed of large screen smart phones. Although the G1 phone features hardware that is more powerful than many of the computers the original Duke Nukem games were originally designed to run on, "I am Duke Nukem" was specifically designed to operate smoothly and without freezing on the Android platform. Fortunately, the full version of the game "I am Duke Nukem" is available free of charge from the Android Market and other Android sites. Users of the G1 phone can access the Market directly from their phones or access other Android App websites directly from a laptop or desktop computer.

Upgrading Android
- In order to install and play the Duke Nukem game for Android, the G1 must be running version 2.1 or later of the Android software. Contact the phone's carrier for directions on how to upgrade the software as the upgrade is not available directly from Google.
Android Market
- Access the Android Market from the link provided on the G1 phone or by accessing the Android Market website using the phone's browser. Once on the site, simply search for the game "I am Duke Nukem." Download the game to the phone by clicking on the green "Install" link.
App Brain
- G1 users who use the App Brain service can download the Duke Nukem game by searching for it on the App Brain website. Once on the page for the game, it can be downloaded by clicking on the "install" link in the upper left corner of the page.
Improving Gameplay
- Ensure that the phone has plenty of free memory before starting the game by restarting the phone. This will guarantee that the maximum amount of free memory is made available to the Duke Nukem game.
