How to Find Hell in Minecraft Beta

Markus "Notch" Persson, the creator of video game "Minecraft," issues frequent updates for the game on a regular basis. One update that was added is the ability to travel to The Nether, which with its flowing lava and dark colors, is reminiscent of Hell. Special substances, such as Glowstone and Soul Sand, can only be found in The Nether. To get there, you must create a portal made entirely out of obsidian blocks.

Instructions

- 1
  Mine obsidian using a diamond pickaxe. Obsidian can be found deep within the ground or created by placing water on lava. You need 14 blocks of obsidian to create the portal.

  Place the obsidian blocks in a four by five pattern at any location in the world.

  Use an item that creates fire, such as a flint and steel or a TNT block, on the open space in the center of the portal. The open space turns purple, indicating the portal is active.

  Walk through the portal to enter The Nether.

  Walk back through the portal to leave The Nether and return to your world. You can enter and leave The Nether as often as you want as long as the portal is active. Turn off the portal by striking the center with fire.
