How to Edit Texture in Minecraft

The indie game Minecraft provides an unlimited amount of creative freedom by giving players the ability to construct three-dimensional projects of any scale. Additionally, Minecraft has a built-in texture swap feature that allows players to replace the standard artwork of the game with other textures designed by either themselves or other artists. New texture packs provide players with more detailed items and monsters to interact with, enabling unprecedented customization of their Minecraft experience.

  Visit a Minecraft texture resource site. There are many websites dedicated to hosting and providing downloads for various Minecraft texture packs as well as showing previews and videos of the textures in action. There are many sites to choose from, but planetminecraft.com hosts a wide variety of textures and is a good place to start.

  Select a texture pack to download. There are hundreds of different textures to choose from, so pick one that you find the most appealing. While you can only have one texture active at a time, feel free to download several and try them all out until you find the one you like the most.

  Install the texture pack by starting up your Minecraft game and selecting the "Mods and Texture Packs" option at the main menu. Click on the "Open Texture Pack Folder" to bring up a separate window. Simply place your previously downloaded texture pack into this folder, which is labeled "texturepacks." Although most texture packs are downloaded as zip files, it is not necessary to unzip the package for it to work properly.

  Activate the texture pack by going back to the "Mods and Texture Packs" screen on your Minecraft menu, selecting the name of the texture pack you just installed and clicking the "Done" button. Your texture pack is now active.
