How to Download Characters on WinMugen

WinMUGEN is both a fighting game and a game-creation tool. The program allows users to create their own characters for use in a 2D fighting game environment. The game itself is similar to Capcom's "Street Fighter" franchise, but allows users to add as many characters -- original or otherwise -- to the game as they like. There are hundreds of characters available for download off the Internet, but they all must be added manually to the game before they can be used in the game.

Instructions

  Download and extract the desired MUGEN character into the "Chars" folder in the WinMUGEN install directory.

  Open the "data" folder in the WinMUGEN install directory and double-click the "Select" text file.

  Scroll down the text file until you come to the "Insert Characters Here" line.

  Type in the following line underneath the "Insert Characters" line:
  
  CharName, stages/StageName.def
  
  Replace "CharName" with the MUGEN character's filename and replace "StageName" with the filename of the stage you want associated with that character. So if the character's filename is "Raiden," replace "CharName" with "Raiden."
