How to Make a Message of the Day in Minecraft

Setting up a "Minecraft" server allows you to create and host a multiplayer "Minecraft" world on your computer. Use a Message of the Day feature on your server, to broadcast a message to players every time they log in. For example, you can use this feature to greet players when they enter the world or to inform them of any server-specific rules. To set up a daily message for your "Minecraft" server, alter its properties file.

  Click the "Start" menu button, and type "Notepad" into the Search box. Press "Enter" to launch Notepad.

  Click "File," then "Open." Navigate to the directory containing the executable file that runs your "Minecraft" server. Double-click the "server.properties" file to open it.

  Highlight any text following the "=" sign on the line that begins with "motd." Press "Delete."

  Type the text you want to use for the message of the day after the "motd=" value.

  Click "File," then "Save." Close Notepad.
