How to Get Out of a Sandtrap on Minecraft

Players construct three-dimensional, block-based structures from resources they have collected in Mojang's independently developed sandbox game "Minecraft." Sand blocks do not adhere to other surfaces in the game and fall continuously until they meet resistance, so players can use them to construct sand traps: large pits of sand that collapse around other players or creatures. Fortunately, players ensnared in a sand trap can escape quickly without the use of any additional resources or tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Face one side of the sand trap and hold down your left mouse button to dig. Each time you remove a block, the rest of the sand blocks in the same column will fall one space to fill the opening. Remain stationary as you dig and do not attempt to remove blocks directly above you, as this may result in loss of health or even death.

    • 2

Continue to remove blocks from the same column until the space in front of you is empty and you have a direct, vertical passage out of the trap. Move into the empty column and use your mouse to point your view at the ground beneath you.

    • 3

Use your scroll wheel to equip the stack of sand blocks you have collected in your inventory. Press "Space" to jump and right-click the ground beneath you to place a block while you are in the air. Repeat this process until your character reaches the trap's surface and you can walk out of the trap.
