Ravenhearst Tips

"Mystery Case Files: Ravenhearst" is a puzzle game that casts the player in the role of a detective. For decades, Ravenhearst Manor has been rumored to be haunted. Your goal is to determine why the ghost is haunting this manor. The key to solving this mystery is in the diary of Emma Ravenhearst, but some of the pages are missing. You need to explore Ravenhearst Manor to find the missing diary pages. Puzzle doors are placed outside almost every room in the manor. You need to solve each puzzle to progress further into the manor.
  1. Hint

    • You can use up to five hints to help you solve the puzzle doors. Using a hint, represented by the five "?" buttons on the right side of the screen, displays a glowing circle on part of the screen. One of the items you need to solve the puzzle is in this circle. Overall, the hints are not that helpful. They do not show you how to use the items to solve the puzzle and the circle is large enough that it often covers multiple items. It is useful if you feel you have a good grasp on how the puzzle works, but are having trouble locating the last few items to solve it.

    Bypassing Puzzles

    • Clicking the phone on the right side of the screen allows you to bypass the puzzle completely. It is useful if you are stuck on a puzzle and have no idea how to solve it. The only consequence of bypassing a puzzle is a five-minute penalty on the game clock. If you are not concerned with how fast you solve the game, the phone has no downside. The game is not timed, so the game clock is inconsequential.

    Nursery Lock

    • The nursery lock is one of the most difficult puzzles for many players. This puzzle door is primarily based on memorization. Pressing the button on the screen quickly flashes a series of objects on the screen. After they disappear, you must move objects from the room into the same order. It makes the puzzle significantly less difficult if you write out the pattern on a piece of paper while it is playing. There is no time limit, so taking notes is an effective method to solve this puzzle door.

    Key Locations

    • Near the end of the game, you need to find the seven skeleton keys to unlock the cellar of Ravenhearst Manor. There are 25 keys scattered around almost every major area of the mansion. You can find seven keys on the manor grounds in the shed, tree house, garage, garden, greenhouse, front porch and near the car in the backyard. You can find six keys on the first floor of the manor, in the parlor, dining room, library, kitchen, servants' quarters and near the statue by the front door. There are seven keys on the second floor, in the music room, game room, theatre, storage room, taxidermy room, guest quarters and guest bathroom. The third floor has six keys, in the master bedroom, master bathroom, wardrobe, nursery, study and library. The only keys in the tower are in the attic and along the widow walk. You can find four keys in the basement, in the pantry, surveillance room, workshop and the area right before the cellar door.
