How to Fix It if You Can't Get Double Deluxe to Work on The Sims 2

"The Sims" is a video game focused on the player raising a virtual family. Periodically, you may wish to install expansion packs that increase the game's functionality. However, you must have "Sims 2 Double Deluxe" edition installed on the computer before installing subsequent expansion packs. Otherwise, you may experience an installation error. The best solution is to uninstall the version your have on your computer and then install the Double Deluxe version. Additionally, you must ensure that your computer is equipped to run the game.

  Make sure that your computer meets the "Double Deluxe" system requirements. You must have an 8X or faster CD/DVD drive, at least 5.5 GB of free hard drive space. Additionally, you must be running Windows Vista, XP, ME, 2000 or 98, at a minimum. However, Microsoft indicates that the game is compatible with Windows 7.

  Make sure that you are installing Sims 2 Double Deluxe in the correct order. If the game is not installed in the correct order, you will be alerted to installed the min the correct order. The Sims 2 Double Deluxe edition must be installed first. Therefore, you must remove otehr versions of the program from your computer. Uninstall your current version of "The Sims" by clicking "Start," "Control Panel" and selecting "Programs." Click "Programs and Features" and select "The Sims 2." Click "Uninstall." Follow the on-screen prompts to ensure that the program is uninstalled. Restart the computer by clicking "Start," selecting the button next to "Shut Down." Click "Restart."

  Insert the "Sims 2: Double Deluxe" disc into your disc drive. The installer will automatically launch. Follow the on-screen prompts until the game is installed. Restart your computer after the program installation is complete. After Double Deluxe 2 is successfully installed, you can then install any other expansion pack, such as "University," "Christmas Party Pack" or "Open for Business." Simply insert that disc and follow the on-screen prompts.
