How to Get the Loan from the Storekeeper in Monkey Island

In the game "The Secret of Monkey Island" you will eventually need to buy a boat. And since it's impossible to get the funds together to buy a boat, you'll need a line of credit. The local shopkeeper offers credit, but you're not reputable enough to earn it legitimately. Luckily there are other methods available to obtain a credit note from the shopkeeper, and with that credit note you can buy a boat and continue on your way.

Instructions

  Enter the store after Stan has given you his business card and told you where you could get a loan. Talk to the shopkeeper and tell him that you're looking to get a line of credit. Tell him that you're employed when he asks. The shopkeeper will then go to get a credit note from his safe.

  Pick any answer when the shopkeeper asks for your occupation. He'll refuse no matter what you say and return the credit note to the safe. Take note of the combination he uses to open the safe, because you'll need to use it soon. When the shopkeeper comes back downstairs tell him that you're looking for the Sword Master of Melee Island. He will leave the shop to find her.

  Walk upstairs to the safe. Pull the handle three times, then push the handle three times. Pull the handle four times, then push the handle two times and the safe will open. Take the credit note from the safe and you'll be able to use it to convince Stan that you got a loan.
