How to Find a Money Tree Seed in 'Sims 3'

"The Sims 3" gives Sim characters the freedom to roam around town while the player tags along. During your trips into town, sometimes you can find seeds laying around that you can pick up and take back home to plant. These seeds can be for any number of plants, fruit trees or even special plants, such as the money tree. During your search, keep an eye out for any seeds showing up under "Rare" or "Uncommon," because those are likely to be money tree seeds.

Instructions

  Head to the Cemetery, Park, Military Base and Science Facility in town. Look around on the ground for the seeds in any of these areas.

  Hover your mouse over a seed when you find one. If the seed is labeled "Unknown," then it could be the seed of a money tree. Be careful, however, because the Life Plant and Flame Fruit are also labeled under this special category. You will have to wait until the seed begins to grow to find out whether it is a money tree seed. To better your chances, pick up several seeds of this category before going home.

  Click on the seed and then the command "Pick Up." The seed will go into your Sim's inventory.

  Go home and enter your inventory by clicking the inventory icon at the bottom of the screen. Click on the seed and then the command "Plant" or "Plant Many," if you have more than one seed of this category.

  Go outside and click on any spot on the ground where you want your Sim to plant the seed.

  Tend the garden by clicking the plants and selecting the command "Tend Garden." Continue doing so each day until the seed matures. After five Sim days, you can hover your mouse over the plant to find out what type of plant it is. You can also differentiate money trees by their peach-pink foliage that is unlike any other plant in the Sim universe.

  Continue tending the garden until your money tree grows into a full tree and you can begin harvesting your Simoleans.
