How to DPS as a Demonology Warlock in World of Warcraft

In the fantasy-based multiplayer online role-playing game "World of Warcraft," players are able to choose characters from a variety of different races and classes. One such class is known as the warlock. Warlocks control the power of dark magic to defeat their enemies and aid their allies. Like all other classes, there are three different areas of focus for warlocks. Although warlocks from all three areas control a pet, demonology warlocks have pets that are much more powerful than the other two areas. Demonology warlocks can follow a simple spell rotation in order to maximize their damage-per-second (DPS) to an enemy.

Instructions

    • 1

Use the life tap ability to activate a buff to your spell power if you have the glyph of life tap learned. Press the N key and click on the glyphs tab to see if you have this glyph.

    • 2

Cast demonic empowerment to give your pet additional power. This can range from an increase in attack speed, health or critical strike chance.

    • 3

Activate the metamorphosis ability if it is available. This will turn your character into a large demon capable of causing heavy amounts of melee damage to an enemy for 30 seconds. Use your demon charge, immolation aura and shadow cleave abilities while this mode is active.

    • 4

Cast corruption on the enemy once metamorphosis is no longer active, or if it was not available after using demonic empowerment. Corruption is a damage-over-time spell that causes heavy amounts of shadow damage to an enemy.

    • 5

Curse your enemy with either bane of doom or bane of agony. These are both damage-over-time spells. Curse of doom causes slightly more damage, and with each tick of damage the spell causes, it has a chance to spawn a demon guardian, a new pet which the warlock can control temporarily.

    • 6

Burn the target with immolation, a fire-based damage-over-time spell that also causes initial direct damage.

    • 7

Cast soul fire on your target if your decimation ability automatically activates after casting immolate. You will receive an on-screen notification if the buff activates. If the molten core buff activates instead, cast incinerate.

    • 8

Continually cast shadowbolt if neither of those two buffs activate. Shadowbolt is a direct-damage shadow spell.

    • 9

Repeat the rotation from Step 1 until the enemy is defeated to maximize your DPS.
