How to Control Countries Other Than the Starting Ones in Europa Universalis 2

"Europa Universalis II: The Struggle Can Begin" is an empire building, turn-based strategy game played at the map level, developed and published by Paradox Interactive in 2001. It has a grand campaign mode that focuses on the seven major powers of Europe (Austria, England, France, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Spain, Sweden and Ottoman Empire) but you can choose to play as any naation, with varying levels of gameplay and reasonable chance of survival or success.

Instructions

  Start the game, then click "New Game." Select the era in which you want to play on the left-hand column.

  Press the arrow keys to move the map away from Europe. You can choose to play a nation as long as you see a nation with a flag or it isn't greyed or whited out. The emblems at the bottom of the screen are the suggested countries for that era.

  Click the country you want, make sure its icon and stats appear in the right-hand screen, and click "Play" to begin playing as this country.
