How to Run GTA IV on Windows

"Grand Theft Auto IV" takes you on a dramatic ride through the criminal underworld of Liberty City. To start playing the game on your computer, you need to install it. The game comes on a DVD, and inserting it into the computer's DVD-ROM drive starts the installation process. After you sign up for Windows LIVE and Rockstar Games Social Club accounts, the software installs on the computer. The game only runs when you have the DVD in the computer's disc drive.

  Place the "Grand Theft Auto IV" disc into your computer's DVD-ROM drive. When the computer recognizes the disc, the installation window for the game appears.

  Click "Next" to start the installation for the Rockstar Games Social Club application. This application manages the online aspect of the game.

  Click on "Next" after Rockstar Games Social Club finishes installing. "Grand Theft Auto IV" installation begins.

  Enter your information to create a Windows LIVE account.

  Click "Next" to continue the installation. Wait for all the files to install on the computer. When all files are installed, you are prompted to connect to the Rockstar website. Click "Next" to connect. The website verifies the authenticity of your software.

  Double-click "Rockstar Games Social Club" on the computer's desktop when installation completes. Log in to your account and click "Play."

  Type the product key that came with the game to activate the software. The product key is found inside the game's box. You only need to enter the key once.
