How to Check the Ping for the Lord of the Rings Online EU Servers

"Lord of the Rings Online" is a role-playing game for the PC played entirely online with other players. A ping is the response time between your computer and the server, presented in the form of milliseconds. Having a high ping can cause actions in the game to be delayed. For example, whereas casting a healing spell is usually instantaneous, a high ping will cause your character to cast the spell after a lag of a few seconds, which can result in your character's death. If you are experiencing symptoms of high ping, you can check your ping at any time during "Lord of the Rings Online." The method for checking is the same on both U.S. and EU servers.

Instructions

    • 1

Launch "Lord of the Rings Online." Press "Esc" to access the "Options" menu.

    • 2

Click "UI Settings" on the right side of the "Options" window.

    • 3

Click the box next to "Show Connection Status in Alerts Panel" under the "Panels" section of the "UI Settings" tab.

    • 4

Click "Accept" to save all changes and close the "Options" menu.

    • 5

Hover your mouse over the "Connection Status" icon in the Alerts Panel, located on the right side of the LOTRO screen. The icon is a picture of a chain. When you hover on it, the icon displays your connection status, including your ping. Ping is displayed in milliseconds -- the lower the number, the better your ping. For example, a ping of 50 ms is ideal, while a ping of 400 ms is considered high.
