How to Put Rails on the Porch in Sims 3

"The Sims 3" gives players the opportunity to build their virtual dream home and inhabit it with characters known as Sims. Designing your Sim's home is not just about building walls and laying carpet-- an outdoor living space, such as a porch, is just as important to the happiness of your Sims. Place floor tiles around the outside of the house to create a porch and add pillars to extend the roof over the porch. A railing completes the look of your Sim's porch and keeps the living space separate from the surrounding yard.

     Open the Build and Buy menu.

     Select the fence tool. The fences double as a railing for porches.

   • 3

     Select a fence design that you like and choose a color scheme from the preselected options. If no option is to your liking, select your own style using the Create-a-Style tool.

     Place the fence along the outside of the porch to create a railing.
