Turn off your antivirus software before the download begins. The download files can become corrupted when filtered through antivirus screening.
Use an administrative account with Windows XP. If you are in a regular user account, the download and installation will not be able to install all the components.
Click on "My Computer" in Windows Vista or 7. Go to the "Program Files" and click on the "Turbine" folder. Double-click on the "Lord of the Rings Online" game folder and find the game file. Right-click on the file and select "Properties." Uncheck any of the administrator or compatibility boxes that will prevent the client_sound.dat from installing.
Fix the virtual memory on your computer. The Client_Sound.dat file is a large file that requires a lot of hard drive space and memory. Go to the "System Advanced Settings" in your version of windows and click on the "Virtual Memory" icon. Increase the range of virtual memory so the sound file can properly install.
Run a virus scan on your computer to remove any potential malware that may be corrupting the hard drive. Remove any viruses on the computer so the installation can occur on a clean slate.
Remove any previously installed "Lord of the Rings Online" game files. These old files may cause interference with a clean installation. Use the "Add/Remove Programs" feature in Windows and then go to the program files manually to delete any folders that remain.
