Things You'll Need
Instructions
Create a new folder with the name "Downloads" in the Sims 2 folder. In Windows Vista the default location for the Sims 2 folder is "C:\Users\<User Name>\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2." In Windows XP it is "C:\Documents and Settings\<User Name>\My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2."
Find the downloadable content you want to add on a website. To find a website that offers custom "Sims 2" content, perform an online search for "Sims 2" download or "Sims 2" mods. Most websites organize downloadable content into categories like clothing, furniture, etc.
Click the download link or button. The appearance of the link or button will vary by website, but most are clearly labeled. Take note of the location on your hard drive where the downloaded file is stored.
Extract downloads stored in the .rar or .zip formats using a program like WinRar, WinZIP or StuffIt Expander. This should result in one or more files in the .package or .sims2pack formats.
Double click .sims2pack files to start a self-installer and click "Install" in the window that opens, then click "OK" to close the window when the installation is complete. The content will be available next time you start the game.
Copy .package files into the "Downloads" folder you created earlier. The content will be available next time you start the game.
