How to Check Ping in Minecraft

"Minecraft" is a sandbox-style PC game in which players are dropped into a hostile wilderness and must create shelter to survive. Minecraft has both single-player and multi-player modes; in the latter, multiple users play in a single game world. Internet connection speed greatly affects game play in the multi-player version. If you experience problems, checking the connection with the "Minecraft" server is one of the first steps to take. The Windows "ping.exe" command will allow you to check your connection with the "Minecraft" server.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Alt" and "Tab" keys on your keyboard at the same time. This will minimize "Minecraft" to the desktop.

    • 2

      Click the "Start" button.

    • 3

Click the "Run" button, then type "CMD" into the dialog box and press "Enter."

    • 4

Type "Ping" followed by the IP address of the "Minecraft" server you are using. You can find the server IP address at the "Minecraft" server selection screen.

    • 5

Press "Enter" on the keyboard, then wait while your computer connects to the server. The ping will be listed next to the "Time = ##ms" with the ## being replaced with the ping.
