How to Do Great on an Architectural Assignment on The Sims 3: Ambitions

"The Sims 3: Ambitions" expansion pack allows players to explore a wide range of career choices for their Sims, including the recently added architectural field. It is your Sim who is running the architecture business and collecting the money for the job, but it is the player who actually has to do all the work. Players redesign and redecorate a Sim's house using the game's building tools. The amount of money you receive for the job depends on how well the Sim likes what you did with the place.

Instructions

Increase your Sim's creativity and charisma skills. Build up creativity by using an art easel or drafting table, while charisma is increased through social interactions or practicing with a mirror. Creativity will boost your overall score for the assignment while charisma allows you to learn more about the client.

Add as many small flourishes as the client's budget allows. The small decorative items under "Decorations" in the catalog are cheap and go a long way to add character to a room. Add candles or magazines to a surface, a toilet paper roll to the bathroom and a bulletin board in the office. These items are small and do not take up much room, so you can add multiple items to one room without overdoing it.

    • 3

Arrange furniture so the clients have plenty of space to maneuver. Make sure nothing is blocked and that every item has at least one square of space around it.

    • 4

Talk to the client to find out more about her sense of style. You will learn more about your client the more you talk with her. Add items to the house to match her personality. For example, a Sim with the "Bookworm" trait desires multiple bookshelves while a Sim with the "Loves the Outdoors" trait desires more windows.

Create custom art pieces to place in a client's home. Use the art easel or the sculpting tools to create a work of art and then click the art when you are finished to put it in your inventory. You can place the art from your inventory in a Sim's home when in Build Mode. These custom art pieces increase your score, however make sure the art you put in the home is not worth more than what you will be paid for the job.

Increase your job performance level to unlock additional features that allow you to take measurements of a client's home and later discuss the renovations with your client. These two social options also boost your overall score.
