How to Change Build Times in StarCraft II Map Editor

Like the original game, "StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty" comes with a powerful map editing program that allows you to create customized levels. The software, called "StarCraft 2 Editor," lets you design the map and change unit traits, such as build time. Because of the number of options included in "StarCraft 2 Editor," many gamers become overwhelmed and unable to locate their desired options. For instance, you must navigate several menus and sort through lists to find the trait to modify how long it takes to build specific units or construct structures. Use the "Data" manager to modify units and building preferences.

Instructions

    • 1

Run the "Starcraft II Editor" and open the map for which you want to edit build times.

    • 2

Click "Modules" and select "Data." You can also press F7 to launch the Data window.

    • 3

Click the "Search" field and type the name of the building that produces the unit for which you want to alter build times. Folders appear in the results section.

    • 4

Click the "Train" folder. Two options appear reading "Building Name - Train." For instance, if you have the Barracks selected, "Barracks - Train" appears.

    • 5

Click the top option. "Units" appears in the right pane.

    • 6

Double-click a unit from the right pane. A window pops up with editing options.

    • 7

Change the "Info - Time" field, located near the bottom, to your desired build time. The "Starcraft II Editor" displays time in seconds.

    • 8

Click "OK" to save the changes.
