How Can I Import Images to Baldur's Gate?

"Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn" was developed by BioWare and is the second game in the Baldur's Gate series. A small portrait represents your character in the game. There are default images to choose from, but you have the option on using your own custom images. The images must fit the required specifications before they can be used.

Instructions

    • 1

Create your portrait image using the graphic editor of your choice. For character images, the size must be exactly 40 pixels wide by 62 pixels tall and saved as a 8-bit bitmap or bmp. For character sheets, the image should be 110 pixels wide by 170 pixels tall and saved as a 24-bit bmp. No other file formats will work.

    • 2

Save your files using identical names except for an "S" at the end of the file name for the small image, and an "L" for the large image. File names can be no longer than seven characters long.

    • 3

Press the Windows Keys on your keyboard and "E" at the same time to open up your Windows Explorer and navigate to the Baldur's Gate folder. This is typically "C:\Program Files\Baldur's Gate."

    • 4

Right-click and choose "New" then "Folder."

    • 5

Right-click on the folder and choose "Rename" and type in "portraits."

    • 6

Drag and drop your images into this folder.

    • 7

Start Baldur's Gate and select Character Creation.

    • 8

Click "Custom" to load your new portrait images.
