"Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn" was Bioware's first role-playing game that featured several optional romantic subplots -- a feature that has become a staple in its later games -- with your party members. These subplots typically advance fairly slowly, spacing the plot-related events -- such as Jaheira's relationship with the Harpers -- out over the length of the game. If you are impatient, however, you can use the CLUA console, a sort of debugging/cheat tool, to speed the romances up as desired.
