Northrend is the setting for "Wrath of the Lich King," the second expansion pack for "World of Warcraft." When you first arrive in Northrend, any flying mounts you own, including the Flying Carpet, do not work. This can be a hassle, because many quests and dungeons are obtainable only by flight, in addition to making the terrain easier to navigate. However, you can buy the ability to fly in Northrend as soon as you are level 68. You can buy flight training from any Flying Trainer in any major city.

Travel to any major city, such as Orgrimmar for the Horde or Stormwind for the Alliance.

Right-click on the Flying Trainer, identifiable by the <Flying Trainer> tag under his name.

Click "Cold Weather Flying."

Click "Train." The skill costs 500 gold to train and, once bought, allows you to use any flying mount in Northrend, including the Flying Carpet.
