How to Upload a Custom Portrait on Baldur's Gate

"Baldur's Gate" is one of the first games ever published by Bioware Software, a company whose name has since become synonymous with quality role-playing video games. "Baldur's Gate" allows you to customize not only your main character's class and race, but also his character portrait. You can select from a series of pre-installed portraits or you can upload your own portrait into the game. There are a few steps you have to go through, however, if you plan to put your own portrait into "Baldur's Gate."

  Open "My Computer" and browse to your "Baldur's Gate" install directory.

  Create a folder labeled "Portraits" in the install directory if it does not exist already.

  Place your custom portrait into the "Portraits" folder. Make sure your custom portrait is in the .BMP (bitmap) format, otherwise it will not display properly in "Baldur's Gate."

  Launch "Baldur's Gate" and load your game. Click your character and click the "Character Record" button in the left menu bar.

  Click the "Customize" button followed by "Appearance" and "Custom."

  Select your custom portrait and click "OK."
