How Can I Convert the Radio to MP3 on Grand Theft Auto IV?

"Grand Theft Auto IV" continues the tradition from previous games of allowing players to play their own music during the game rather than listen to the original and licensed tracks that come with it. Players use the radio on in-game cars to access this music by changing stations for different genres of music - just like radios in the real world. In "Grand Theft Auto IV," the user's music can be accessed from the "Independence FM" radio station within the game, but the files must first be placed in the proper folder. "Grand Theft Auto IV" supports several different audio formats: mp3, ogg, wma and wav.

Instructions

    • 1

Open the folder where your mp3 files are located. The default mp3 location differs depending on which music program - iTunes, Windows Media Player or others - you use primarily.

    • 2

Open the "User Music" folder inside "My Documents." "Grand Theft Auto IV" created this folder upon its installation.

    • 3

Copy the desired music files into the "User Music" folder.

    • 4

      Start the game.

    • 5

Go to "Options" at the title screen and select the "Audio" tab.

    • 6

Select "Complete Scan." The game will scan the "User Music" folder and, after that, your music should be available in the game.

    • 7

Enter a vehicle once you're playing the game.

    • 8

Scroll through the radio stations until you reach "Independence FM." This station plays the songs you loaded into the "User Music" folder. The default control for changing radio stations is the mouse wheel - roll it up or down to change the station.
