How to Make a Waterfall in the Far Cry 2 Map Editor on PS3

The map editor in "Far Cry 2" gives you access to the same tools the developers used to create the levels seen in the game. By manipulating features like land masses, foliage and bodies of water, you can create extremely detailed and interactive multiplayer maps. Although there is no direct way to create a waterfall with the map editor, by cleverly manipulating some of the game's destructible objects it is possible to create a makeshift version of a waterfall.

  Open the "Far Cry 2 Map Editor." Click "File" and choose "New." Choose any level type you desire.

  Build a small rocky mountain with the boulder tool. Click "Objects" and choose water pumps. Stack a few water pumps next to one another on top of the mountain, just behind the edge. Raise the water pumps up about 6 feet, enough for a couple layers of barrels to fit underneath. Click the "Options" tab and rotate the water pumps forward so they lean over the edge slightly. Go back to the "Objects" menu and choose the tan exploding barrel. Stack about a dozen barrels underneath and behind the water pumps.

  Click the "Boulder" tool. Build a large overhang right above the water pumps; try to hide the water pumps in the shadow created. Add some foliage in front of and next to the barrels and pumps to disguise them.

  Click on the "Terrain" editor tool and create a small dent in the ground in front of the mountain, about the size of a pond or lake. Adjust the water level until there is a small body of water at the base of the mountain. Click "File" and choose "Save."

  Start a demo of your map. Shoot at the explosive barrels beneath the pump. When the barrels explode, the pumps will be damaged and begin spraying out water that looks just like a waterfall. You can go back into the editor to adjust the angle and position of the pumps to make the effect even more realistic.
