How to Activate the Ant Pile in Fallout New Vegas

The video game "Fallout New Vegas" is the 2010 follow-up to Bethesda's 2008 hit, "Fallout 3." In it, players control The Courier in their quest to make it to New Vegas in order to discover who left them for dead. One of the missions players encounter is to help a minor faction, the Boomers, in getting rid of their giant ant problem so they can generate energy again.

Instructions

  Go to the Boomer's Hangar and speak to Loyal about his device that will destroy the ant colony in the generator room. Take the sonic emitter and head to the generator, east of the hangar.

  Turn on the electrical switches on the stairwells, while killing the giant ants lurking around the generator. Be careful to kill them from a distance, as some of these ants will explode when killed.

  Find the ant mound on the bottom floor, then press "Search" or "Examine" (mapped to "E" by default) to place the device on top of the mound. Point at the device and press "Search" again to activate the device, killing the ant colony. Use the switch at the top of the staircase to turn on the generator, to complete the quest.
