How to Use Both Cores of a CPU With Gmod

"Garry's Mod" is a physics computer game released through Steam in 2006. By default, "Garry's Mod" that's run on a dual-core computer only runs on a single core, since it's not a very powerful program. It can still be sluggish, however, so many players elect to have the game use both cores. Performing this task requires opening the task manager on your Windows 7 computer. Set the cores to run for the one specific process.

Instructions

    • 1

Press the "Ctrl," "Shift" and "Esc" keys simultaneously. This opens the task manager directly.

    • 2

Click the "Processes" tab. Click the check mark box beside "Show processes from all users." Wait a moment for the list to refresh.

    • 3

Right-click "hl2.exe," which is the process "Garry's Mod" runs under; select "Set Affinity." A dialog box will appear.

    • 4

Click the check mark box beside the unchecked core. You should have both boxes checked. Click "OK" and restart "Garry's Mod."
